Diana Chun

Diana sees strategic communication as a path to creating a more fair and just world. She uses the power of communication to open doors of opportunity for those who need it the most. Diana brings a decade of strategic communication experience across nonprofit advocacy, policy and social innovation to her work at Spitfire. In all her work, Diana is passionate about partnering with organizations to advance their work through strong messaging, storytelling and branding. She has a particular knack for translating complex ideas into content that cuts through the noise.

Her portfolio at Spitfire includes clients working on high-impact solutions to some of the world's most intractable problems, including affordable housing and homelessness, racial justice, health care, food security, disaster relief and recovery, early childhood development, college and career readiness and higher education. She approaches all her work with a lens of empathy, equity and deep curiosity.

Diana has a long track record of sparking change. Prior to joining Spitfire, Diana was the communications and program manager at the Early Learning Lab, a nonprofit that uses human-centered design, systems thinking and technology to meet the needs of young children and families. She led communications to support program participation for diverse communities and share their stories, highlighting the difference it can make when organizations co-design solutions with the people they serve. Previously, Diana was the communications director at Early Edge California, where she mobilized coalition partners and drove winning campaigns that helped secure access to education for 125,000 young children in California. While there, she wrote and placed opinion pieces across the state for a range of voices including parents, educators, executive directors and state legislators.

Diana graduated from UC Davis with a double major in communications and psychology. As a student, she served as the marketing events intern for United Way California Capital Region and volunteered in youth education and mental health programs.

Diana lives with her partner in Oakland, California and is the mother of two cats, Remi and Zelda. A self-proclaimed "good eater," Diana enjoys trying any and all foods. In her free time, she loves to plan weekend getaways and explore the natural wonders of California.
