Martín Witchger
Senior Account Manager
Martín is passionate about building a more equitable and livable future for all. With a decade of experience in digital strategy and grassroots organizing at national environmental organizations, he wields the power of digital tools to bring communities together to advocate for climate solutions at all levels of government.
At Spitfire, Martín has been proud to partner with clients like Seventh Generation to educate and activate conscious consumers in holding the fossil fuel industry accountable; Natural Resources Defence Council to develop tailored messaging to win clean and equitable transportation policies; and the Southern Poverty Law Center to mobilize young Black and Brown southerners to vote. Beyond his expertise in digital organizing and environmental and climate justice, Martín is dedicated to intersectional work that brings together racial justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, faith-based organizing, and creative and cultural strategies.
Previous to Spitfire, he led countless digital communications strategies for Sierra Club’s federal climate justice campaigns, including building support for the THRIVE Act; defending the Arctic Refuge; and mobilizing thousands online and offline to advocate for a bold climate, jobs, and justice bill — that became the Inflation Reduction Act. His understanding of the intersectionality of racial, economic and environmental justice began at an early age, when Martín’s parents organized migrant farmworkers in southwest Florida. He has continued this life-long work through campus organizing, environmental education, electoral campaigning, online-to-offline grassroots organizing and strategic campaign planning throughout the Midwest, in Washington, D.C., and most recently in his new community in Durham, NC.
Martín holds a B.A. in environmental studies and anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis. In his free time, Martín can be found outside – hiking with his dog, biking the streets of Durham, or in the garden tending native perennials and harvesting vegetables for the next meal with family and friends.
