Zach specializes in leading climate, energy, and environmental projects at Spitfire. He has over 20 years of experience working in agencies, non-profits, and philanthropy--including six years at the ClimateWorks Foundation. Most recently, he led the California portfolio at a climate-focused communications firm supporting policy progress in Sacramento and beyond. He brings expertise in strategy and message development, meeting facilitation, coalition-building, media relations, and capacity building. He has secured press coverage in the San Francisco Chronicle, the Los Angeles Times, the Sacramento Bee, Politico and the Associated Press, among other outlets. He’s trained board members to become outstanding ambassadors, led rebranding efforts, helped launch organizations, spearheaded coalitions, managed surround sound paid media campaigns, and helped pass state legislation. He’s worked on issues ranging from soil carbon to ecosystem restoration, from polluter accountability to cap and invest, and from climate adaptation to solving the housing crisis. Zach is based in Northern California but has East Coast roots.
