Spitfire pro bono fund kicks off its third year

Spitfire is committed to supporting movements that advance racial, economic and social justice across the country. We believe it’s critical to center the voices of people who are most impacted by systemic injustice, which is what led the firm to create a $100,000 pro bono fund to provide communications support for Black-led organizations engaging in racial equity work in 2020.

Through Spitfire’s pro bono fund, we had the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with Black-led organizations from across the country. Our work together in the first year focused on lifting up the arts to drive social change, achieving equity and justice in the Mountain West and creating solutions to optimize maternal and infant health. In its second year, we focused on Black-led organizations from our nation’s South that work to advance racial equity across a range of social justice issues, including economic justice, food security, housing, environmental racism and LGBTQIA+ rights.

Now in its third year, Spitfire’s pro bono fund will focus on Black-led organizations that support individuals, families and communities impacted by the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. We recognize the broad harms that this decision has inflicted across the country and how those harms are disproportionately felt in Black communities. Therefore, we are looking to work with Black-led organizations working to advance reproductive justice; housing access and equity; support for single mothers, children and families; and LGBTQIA+ rights.

Systemic barriers to funding and capacity-building often exist for Black-led organizations working on these issues. We hope that investing in work on these issues will help create a more equitable future and support Black leadership.

If you are part of a Black-led social justice organization in need of communications support and are working on reproductive justice, housing, children and families and/or LGBTQIA+ spaces, we encourage you to apply by Friday, September 9, 2022, by 8:00 p.m. ET at this link: https://tinyurl.com/3dh64j8f
