Our Assignment

Spitfire had the unique opportunity to help amplify the priorities of DC-area residents through the Voices DMV initiative, a project of the Greater Washington Community Foundation. Our goal was to capture the experiences and sentiments of community members from all walks of life to better serve the greater Washington region. The Foundation came to Spitfire to help bring extensive research, conducted by the Urban Institute, to life and activate key audiences in the region to support the Foundation’s work.

What We Did

Spitfire provided strategic direction to the Foundation every step of the way—developing the Voices DMV branding, creating the foundational messaging to talk about the initiative, identifying compelling themes from the research to amplify and designing the report layout. Spitfire also supported the Foundation with media outreach, garnering an exclusive piece on Washington’s NPR station, WAMU, which prominently featured the messaging we developed.

The Results

As a result of the successful Voices DMV launch and the value the Foundation and its partners found in the study results, the Foundation established Voices DMV as a bi-annual initiative, which will continue to provide valuable insights into DC-area residents’ experiences.
