Early childhood educators support
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
In 2015, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) came to Spitfire for help with the release of its 2015 poll focused on early childhood professions. This poll showed a majority of Americans supported better compensating early educators to bolster the work they do, which respondents viewed as central to educational development. More than 80 percent of voters believed that teachers who are well-compensated and hold degrees in child development or early childhood education were important to program quality.
Spitfire developed a strategic plan to help the report release spark a positive, national conversation on the benefits early childhood educators contribute to society and the need to advance the profession. As part of the release, Spitfire garnered coverage in field-focused publications like Education Week’s Early Years Blog, Education World, Ed Central, Ed Source Eyes on the Early Years Newsletter as well as a placement in Huffington Post, which generated more than 70,000 shares on social media and through email, and received over 80 comments in the article’s comment section. Similarly, NAEYC’s Facebook post about the HuffPost article was shared more than 2,000 times and received 2,600 likes and 90 comments.
